Scheduling & automation · Question 10

Does a scheduled routine (like a 5 AM daily briefing) run automatically? Does it need to run on a server or can it run on my local machine?

Default expectation: routines run on your machine. The computer needs to be awake enough for the client to fire, and the desktop app or CLI session needs to be available.

For many people, "runs when I open my laptop" is enough.

If you need 5 AM sharp regardless of you:

  • Leave the machine on with the scheduler active, or
  • Move to a small always-on host (VPS/cloud)—that path is real but more technical.

Start local; upgrade only when "always on" is a hard requirement.
